Critical Care is when a person seeks help for an acute injury or illness. An example is when someone comes in for chiropractic care after falling down stairs or when they are experiencing a headache. As the pain or problem subsides, the person stops care until the next problem or crisis arises.
Preventive care on the other hand, is when a person receives regular chiropractic check ups to correct any spinal misalignments before they start causing trouble in the body. In this approach, one doesn't wait to have a symptom such as back pain, headaches or feeling poorly to come in for help. Many times spinal misalignments (subluxations) are present and the person doesn't feel anything wrong initially. It can take weeks, months and sometimes even years for a person to have any symptoms. Remember that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Being consistent with your chiropractic care will give you much better overall health.

During this time of year most of us are much more active than we may normally be. Whether we're swimming, hiking, gardening, or enjoying other warm weather activities, the body is experiencing different physical stresses. Many of these summer activities put some unique stresses on our spines. These stresses create spinal subluxations which diminish our ability to perform at our highest levels. Having a properly aligned spine leads to increased strength, flexibility and fuller functioning of the body. Not only will you be less likely to injury yourself, more importantly, your body will be able to perform at a higher level because of proper nerve transmission to all cells of the body! Just as a properly tuned race car performs at peak levels, so too a properly adjusted spine allows our body to perform at it's highest ability. To get the most out of your summer activities, be sure to get adjusted during this especially active time of year!
